Clap Your Way To Longer Golf Drives

Have you seen the videos of people clapping really fast?

I just saw one recently and the guy was awarded the world record for the most claps in 1 minute.  He clapped  an amazing 721 times in 60 seconds.  Search Youtube for Kent French if you want to see some fast clapping.

So what does that have to do with longer drives?

Well, a lot actually!

You see, to clap really fast you must have relaxed hands to be fast.

To hit longer drives you must have relaxed hands to swing fast.

Most golfers I see that want longer drives grip the club waaaaay too HARD!

To see what I mean, here’s what I want you to do.

Tense your arms and hands as hard as you can. Now try really hard to clap as fast as you can.

When you do this you’ll quickly see (pun intended) how slow you are.

After doing this then shake your hands and relax them.  Then keep them nice and floppy and relaxed and clap them as many times as you can in 10 seconds.

And that 10 seconds figure is very important.

You see, the golf swing is a power move.  It takes less than a couple of seconds.

So doing a lot of endurance stuff makes very little sense if you want longer drives (although you do need a certain level of strength).

When you’re training for speed you should do repetitions of some fast movement for a bit less than 10 seconds.

Yes, you can actually do this fast clapping and it will be training you to move quicker.

It might be weird, but it works.
